About this test
Nail testing captures drug use over roughly three to six months, even further back than hair testing, because drugs bind to keratin as the nail grows. Collection is quick, painless and observed: a small clipping is taken from the fingernails or toenails, sealed under chain of custody and sent to a certified laboratory. Nail testing is a strong option when hair is unavailable — shaved heads, hair treatments — or when a court, custody matter or monitoring agreement calls for the longest possible history of use.
